GOETHE INSTITUTE. THE DECONSTRUCTION OF GRAY
Grenzgänger (border crossers) is a book and exhibition of the same name at the Goethe-Institut in Rotterdam. Emigrated German artists and architect both deal creatively and intellectually with the reunification of West- and East Germany 20 years ago. What did the event of the century do to people and the environment? In their book contribution ‘The Deconstruction of Gray’ Gemma Koppen and Tanja C. Vollmer reflect on the color gray, which is still attached to the preconceived notion of East Germany, the beginning of a promising colorfulness. Disappointment, hope, innovation, preservation. Will it be colorful or black and white in the end? In any case, their spatial installation they show in the 4-week exhibition and describe in the book is deeply black.
