URBAN PSYCHOLOGY

The course “Urban Psychology” provides empirically based insights into the perception of the built environment in cities and the resulting behavior. Tanja C. Vollmer provides an introduction to perception processes and their influence on people’s health. Gemma Koppen places these observations and findings in the context of healthcare and hospital construction, which as a typology structures the city, reflects both the needs and the traditions of a society and can be used for the design. Their courses, whether held alone or in a team, provide thought-provoking impulses and models for action for a user-oriented building and urban development. Models that enhance the purely economic way of thinking of designers with that of a ‘Human Centered Design’.
