Under the motto ‘Hospitals rethought’, doctor and journalist Horst Groß compiles new concepts, scientific findings and expert assessments in his feature on German hospital construction. He interviews architects, scientists and planners nationwide. One of them, Tanja C. Vollmer pleads for a more innovative, people-oriented hospital architecture: “Sick people react differently to their environment than healthy people. That’s why hospitals, intensive care units and other departments have to be designed completely differently from the way we have been seeing them till now”.
