Architectural design of private living space
Architektur von privatem Wohnraum

The study investigated the spatial perception of cancer patients and the relation to architectural interventions that the patients undertook in their private homes after being diagnosed.
Eleven female cancer patients were analysed at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
All of them reported a change in their spatial perception and spatial needs. Especially the need for natural light and bright colors emerged and resulted in radical alterations of the private homes. Some of them took walls down, others added winter gardens.

The process of alienation in spatial perception can be traced back to a subjectively perceived body change. It results in a sudden reshaping of the personal environment .
This is what we call space anthropodysmorphy.
