From 02. October to 09. November 2009 the Goethe Institute in Rotterdam showed works from Michael Anhalt, Atelier Kempe Thill, Caro Bensca, Martin Effert, Kopvol architecture & psychology, Susanne Kriemann, Marc Müller, Tanja Otolski, Christine Saalfeld, Mechthild Stuhlmacher, Stefan Gross, Karin Trenkel, Nicola Unger, Hartmut Wilkening and Kim Zischang.
They all were invited to reflect as German emigrants on the 20th anniversary of the German Reunion and translate their impressions and thoughts into art.
The exhibition was curated by Christine Saalfeld.

With their black wooden object “the deconstruction of grey” kopvol reflects on the black side of the reunited German population, the feelings of unease and dissatisfaction that occur at the level of everyday life, hardly noticeable for the eye of the visitor.
At the same time the object caricatures everyday life in New Germany and exposed it’s a-normality as potential of a totally new space, which is strong, brave and far apart from the old myth of DDR grey.
